antifreeze

Not being an anti-freeze guru, I can only tell you what has worked well for me, since before I had my first brick in 1977 (a 1975 245DL).

Prestone brand, in the yellow jug, diluted to 50/50 with distilled water. Your system holds about 10 quarts, so get two gallons of Prestone and of distilled water. I have some empty Prestone jugs in the garage so doing the mixing is not a problem.

I have found it easy to do in the sunlight, on the driveway. With the sunlight it is easy to look through the jug and see that the new jug and the empty one being filled have equal amounts of antifreeze. Then it is easy to pour in the water. One the driveway means spills are easy ot clean up. Little animal creatures find the smell attractive and don't know it is fatal.

A side benefit is that if on the road and seeing an overheat situation, it is usually easy to get to a grocery store for a couple gallons of distilled water. That can often get one home, or at least to a repair shop.

Good Luck,

Bob
