You may not think that you did anything else to cause the new problems, but it doesn't take much on an oldie...just wiggling a connector or harness if they have corrosion and/or dirt is all it takes...that along with all the other known issues...I get the feeling that you think there is some higher intelligence to this...rest assured there's not...maybe you just need some encouragement, and then need to engage in some methodical troubleshooting and repair...
...just attack, troubleshoot, and properly repair them one at a time...the beauty is that with a relatively simple electrical system such as is present in one of these vehicles, you will soon get ahead...and when repaired right, stay of the failures...what I mean is, find and fix the real cause one at a time, properly, and with the long-term in mind and move on to the next failure...as an example, I just repaired some 122 horns...I mean soup to nuts...horn switch needed to be repaire, horns both frozen solid, and there were wire nuts twisting wires together...and I haven't even upgrade to a relay yet...but not once did I encounter any magic really!
I suggest you make a legible wiring diagram and get searching!
