ATTN: B.C., etc. To weld or not to weld, that is the question

Never had to replace my Cat yet but I thought that the different diameter of the Pipes exiting the Cat would prevent you from putting it on Backwards.

I do not weld my pipes to my mufflers. I do not always replace the entire system at once.
