Overheating update 120-130

You may recall the problems I was having......

http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=1218097

Well, I got the rad back today, and refitted it. Also put on my, (expensive!), new, dealer spec, thermostat and rad cap. Both looked physically and dimensionaly exactly the same as my autostore ones....but...

Using your suggestions, I jacked the front of the car up in the air as high as I could get it, filled it up slowly till the vanes were just covered and cranked it up.......After a while the stat opened and the water started moving thro the rad.....Left it on a fast idle and the temp guage settled at a point just more than halfway. Took it out for a fast run, and the gauge settled back to halfway....In stationary traffic, it crept up a bit, but nothing like the last time !

I'll take it for a longer run tonight....Then repeat the process tomorrow...adding some antifreeze this time.

Thanks to all for your great advice !

Cheers
Gerry

Oh, and the heater was toasty...... :)
