Cold WX starting/charging problem 700 1987

87 760T --- Anyone ever heard of the overdrive relay causing problems in cold weather only (under 40F)
I would like to know if this relay is part of the ignition circuit as the engine will not start unless I mess around with the OD switch, or just engauge the starter a few times for a moment in each attempt to start. Is there a starter relay that may be malfunctioning? No gauges operating either...
When I finally get power to the gauges, the OD light is illuminating at default but operates opposite as it should. It does not appear to be a charge at the battery while this condition exists until the car reaches temprature and all the gauges begin to operate again and the OD begins to function normally.
Often toggling the OD button will hasten the process of returning the gauges and charging system back to normal.
Anyone ever heard of such a situation/problem?
Thanks
C
