While I was at Ramstein Air Base in Germany in the late 80's, there was a short (1/4 mile, maybe less) dirt oval track not many miles outside the base. To an Americans eyes, there were some unusual race cars that ran there on weekends. I remember seeing a few VW Beetles with SOHC 6 cylinder BMW engines (3 liter variety, I believe), mounted just like the B20 in the photo.
