Identifying a 123 GT with no VIN 120-130

Canadian, where are you located that there are 122s all over the place, just sitting around in peoples yards? I live in Virginia, not too far from Washington DC. Here, old Volvos were once plentiful, but now, in all seriousness, 122s seem to be hardly more common than Ferraris of the same vintage. (at least, based on what I see driving around) 1800s are a little less rare, probably because they are considerably more exotic looking, so people tended to save them.

Much the same situation seems to hold true as you go further North---last Spring I attended an excellent car show in Manchester Vermont. There were several hundred vehicles there, ranging from the true Classics (Springfield Rolls Royces, 12 cylinder Packards) to 50s American iron, to Muscle cars (including two Plymouth Superbirds) to a wide selection of imports---Mercedes, Porsches, British of all kinds, even such oddballs as a Tatra, a Daf, and a Lancia Fulvia coupe, but NO Volvos. NOT ONE!! No Saabs either.

GTI, I am at present storing a hoard of 740 parts, pretty much everything that was usable from three cars I stripped out, two of them down to the last nut and bolt. Apart from body panels and interior parts, it all fits into a stack of storage tubs approximately 4 x 4 x 8 feet (a cord of car parts?) plus a somewhat smaller pile of stuff in the back of the shed, so I don't consider space to be that much of an issue.

Perhaps I am just haunted by memories of the lightweight Austin Healey 100 (with most of the body in aluminum) that I didn't buy from a junkyard for $100, 25 years ago, that ended up being crushed (but not before someone had stripped a fair amount of the good parts) but I believe that someone, somewhere, could use nearly every part off of that 123GT right now, and that as time passes, these parts will become much harder to find. If you save stuff like that, you are not just saving it against your possible future needs (which may not be relevant, as with the SU carbs) but for posterity. In 20 or 30 years, someone will need some of those items to keep their (more nearly stock) car going, and if they've all been sent to China and come back as refrigerators, he or she will be out of luck. If you have surplus parts, and don't think you will have any luck selling them, you should at least make an effort to offer them to others for free pickup or cost of shipping (if practical, which it's obviously not for things like rear ends) before scrapping them. I have already seen several discussions on this board of forming a 240 rescue league, to help keep unwanted cars from being scrapped, and 122s are now far rarer.
