Progress 444-544 1958

Hi Belinda, if you get down here you must come by. On the transmissions, my car currently has the H6 3spd. installed. From what I understand the M4 is close to the M40 but the 40 has to be modified to fit the B16 Bellhousing and clutch (redrill top two bolts on trans. and the input shaft must be shortened about .4"). I will know soon if this is the case as the replacement B16 eng. clutch/bellhousing will be adapted to take an M40 (hopefully).
If you have a B18 eng./clutch/bellhousing in your car it almost certainly has an M40 behind it. I could be wrong but I think it would be very hard to adapt the M4 to the B18 bellhousing/clutch.
Still not sure about the drive shafts between M4 and M40 but it appears that the front tube is not the same between the H6 3spd. and the M4 as the part numbers are not the same.

Cheers!
OK
