Wrong clutch cable? 200 1990

The Gemo with the flighted shielding like the original Volvo cable is available at Autohaus Arizona for $55.69. Autohaus is my main parts supplier for Volvo and BMW parts.

After my experience with my last Gemo clutch cable, however, I would not buy another. (Actually, I may be buying another - who knows who makes the Volvo branded cable?)

The cable that didn't fit at the bottom end didn't fit down at the tranny.

It appears to me that the original Volvo cable and the Gemo with the flighting on the outside are designed to self-adjust. Soon after I bought my '91, a spring broke and fell out from under the dash. It seemed to have been a second clutch pedal return spring. The Volvo parts book at the dealer did not show it. The parts book showed the '91 with a return spring down on the tranny, like the older models. My car did not have a place to attach a return spring down on the tranny, and the dealer did not have a replacement for the spring that broke, so I fabricated a bracket and put a hardware store return spring down on the tranny. That is the way it has been for the last 250k miles, but I don't think the cable is self adjusting with the spring down on the tranny installed. I have had to adjust it manually every so often (very often with the Gemo).
