Dead Battery issues 200 1987

Will:

The only way to know for sure if the alternator is 100% is to clip a current meter on the big alt line with the car running and the lights on, rev up to about 1500RPM. If I recall correctly, the alternator is an 80A unit. I have run into many a 89 and later alternator that seemed to work fine in the summer, but kill batteries as the headlights are used more and more. Why? Simple answer, all of the bad ones had a bad diode bridge that resulted in the alternator peaking out at 30A rather than 80 to 90Amps!

Have your friend drive it to an Advance Auto shop and have them check it, if all is good then it might just maybe be a harness issue.
