Stalling 240

240Dennis, that is unfourtunate.

You say that you heard loud humming nosies the other day and that you suspect the fuel pump. It would be wise to measure the fuel pressure to verify the correct operation.

I fabricated a port from which to measure my fuel pressure. It is simply a brass tee with 5/16" barb fittings. I installed it into my new Aeroquip brand bright blue fuel line, after removing my six cylinder volvo engine. The gentleman that was the owner had installed a Mustang in tank fuel pump, damaging the tank level sender. After reinstalling Bosch parts, and a B23, I wanted to verify the correct operation. I Installed the tee and a gauge from Autozone. I went to Red Lobster, and opun my fill, I returned to a noisy pump. The pressure was oscillating at 80 psi. Correct pressure was 35-40 psi. Replacing the regulator solved the high pressure and hard starting conditions. I then plugged the port with a 1/8" plug to eliminate any fire potential.

I encourge the gathering of much data before the purchase of any part.

You say the car ran fine, does it still, or is it out of service?
