The overdrive in my 1982 240 manual transmission just started kicking out pretty frquently. The O/D light stays on. The day before the fuse which serves the O/D and rear window defrost burned out, I replaced and all worked well until I started having problems the next day.
This a replacement O/D last year (now has about 180K on it) and it has always engaged and stayed engaged even in the hotest weather (90+ degrees) so I wouldn't think I would be having a hydraulic issue in this cold (25 degree) weather.
When it is cold I usually have to run a while before O/D will engage and light come on but it has done that for quite some time and I figure that is just the relay.
I'm going to going to get it up on a hoist and check the fluid level and electrical connections. But not sure what else I should check.
Any advice on what to look at and possible problems would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the help this is a great resource!!!
