problem 200

So I changed teh plugs today. I used bpr6ey, which is a v-cut ngk copper plug, they didn't have any bpr6es in stock. I gapped them at .034

Still have a funny idle, the car wants to stall out, and when it nearly does it shows check engine. Easy way to check the code with LH2.4 89 b230f?

The old plugs were white, with dark ash at the very tip, but for the most part these plugs were white. That means it could have been running very hot, could be lean, etc. as the back of the haynes manual says

I was too lazy to do a compression check, and the motor was still a bit warm to get my hand in to thread the tester in.

I blew the headgasket a few months ago, but still drive it. Head has never been off the 260,000+ kilometer motor. I didn't overheat it when blowing it. Small drip on the exh. side by number 4 cyl. I'm waiting for my new head to be ported/polished and my new cam shimmed up in the head, then I'll replace the head when I install the MLS gasket. Head was skimmed and will be using thinnest gasket for a higher static compression.

Is it possible coolant is now getting into the cc and wetting the plug or something? Doesn't seem to be burning coolant, from what I notice.

Stalling / up and down idle seems to come when the cooling system is first pressurized, or once it hits normal operating temp.

Could it be a MAF sensor or o2 sensor that is fouled up?

I suppose I could check the crank positioning sensor in the back of the head...

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Amar
