quick question 200 1986

No crank position sensor till '89.

Maybe just bad fuel relay contacts. You could pop off the white relay cover and use a small bit of folded paper to hold the Fuel relay closed, due to it's lower position. You can't do that with the Main (upper) relay. But the Maine usually works, and must have when you hot-wired the pump, in order for the AMM and ECU to allow running.
