Intermittent Engine Smoke 940 Turbo

I have no direct solution for you, but I can tell you that it is VERY difficult to trace the source of an oil leak without eliminating some obvious things. I had a difficult time doing exactly what you are doing on another vehicle and it took some time and lots of looking at it just after it began smoking to determine the origin. Turns out mine was a VC gasket on the firewall side of a FWD V-6, so it was difficult to determine.
