radiator temperature sensor popped out 700 1991

Three years ago I replaced the radiator with a heavy duty all metal type. I renewed the temperature sensor grommet and since then I have not had a problem. Today Jan 28 I pulled into my diveway to discover that there was a coolant leak. Upon investigation I found the temperature sensor had popped out. I cleaned the grommet and sensor and reinstalled them, added some coolant and drove around the block a few times to see if I could duplicate the popping out again. It did not, so whats happening? I am feeling somewhat insecure at this moment and last thing I want is the reoccurence away from home. Any ideas?
