Report on siping tires

You would really need to compare the same tires with similar wear - siped and not siped - on similar roads to validate any improvment.

I say this for a good reason. My brick came with Michelin MXV4s and besides being a scary wet weather tire, my car could literally not pull away from in front of my house (slight upgrade) if it had snowed. I would have to drive away opposite the direction I normally leave just to get off my street and onto plowed roads. Car got two flats while I was away, wife bought new set of Michelins. More years of horrible traction. 2nd set halfway worn, I got so disgusted with them, I put on a set of Firestone Firehawk SH-30s. The wet traction difference was much greater than day and night. The tires completely transformed the car. No more ABS on firm stops in wet weather. In fact, I had to stomp the brakes after noticing that just to be certain that the ABS still works. Light to medium snow traction was pretty acceptable too.

Unfortunately the SH-30s were discontinued so I recently replaced them with Affinity LH-30s. Quieter ride but not quite the (incredible) bite of the Firehawks in the really bad weather... but they still put the Michelins to shame.

My point; the tires you put on may have performed as well without modification.
