A/C compressor leaking 700

My A/C compressor works fine but flunks the dye test on both ends and
loses refrigerant.

Has anyone tried to rebuild an A/C compressor?

I got a price on a 4seasons replacement from a local parts place that was
over $100 cheaper than FCP, but includes a $20 core charge.
It must be a matter of new seals on either end, and it's back in business?
