Copper paste: a copper-based anti-seize? Interesting idea. I was going to use moly or marine( (blue) grease - which is what I use for my wheel-bearings.

your "very competent considering the short time you needed to sort it out": It was an obvious mechanical issue (I had the broken-off part and could see the rest) plus I got some good help here.

It's the electronic problems I struggle with. It's not clear that the CPS is bad so if not I'll be out $40+ and a bit of work on a car that still doesn't run.
