sliding floor mats

It will require a hole in your mat if you go this route, but the driver's mat in my wife's Mazda MPV utilizes a hook at the end near the driver's seat. I think the hook is glued to the floor or underlaying carpet.
It works well with either the "all season" ie. rubber mats, or the carpeted mats.
Maybe something like this would work for you.
