It took around 3 hours by myself - about %25 of the time it took the first time I tried this...
I put the car up on jack stands, supported the bell housing with a hydraulic jack, removed the support, and the four allen bolts and slid the whole grimy thing back out.
This was about four times easier than the first time. I had the new one back in around 5:00 and it took another half hour to get everything buttoned back up.
The whole backside of the old gearbox was grimy and oily, the rubber gearbox mount was wasted, the crossmember was cruddy with gear oil, as and speedo cable was covered in crud as well. I got all this cleaned up and a replacement rubber mount and a different clean crossmember installed pretty quick.
A test drive yielded easy shifting and mostly "normal" gearbox noises.
There are some new weird noises, but they seem to be originating from the engine. The exhaust now sounds "thoaty" and the engine appears to runs badly. The whole engine seems to be resonating. I wonder if replacing the gearbox/rubber mount/crossmember threw something out of whack...
I also found that my #4 spark was oily while the other three were dry and matched... Not good.
