What Do You Spend Per Year?

Hello,

That is great chrisjul to report the numbers. Have you replaced the water pump? What type of repairs have you done? Have you replaced the timing belt?

What were the main costs asscoiated with the repair? Did you spend more on oil then anything else? Was labor the most expensive expenditure of all costs? What area do you live in?

I live in New Mexico, I have owned a 1977 264 Grande Luxe for almost 3 years. I think that the most expensive repair was the engine:

The junkyard assembly was about $300 (1983 B23F)
The cost to vat and grind the head and block, and install new rings and bearings was $400
Cost of gaskets and other parts was about $300, oil pump, exhaust, belts, etc

The next most expensive operation was to repair a transmission. (M46)

Two transmissions were purchased at $60 each, The cost of gaskets, bearings and wear parts was high at $350, I was able to rebuild one transmission while using the other.

After, the most expensive cost was the steering replacement.

Cost of rack at yard $50, column $30, hoses and pump, $40.

Rear springs were over $100

Boat cable and loom for the rebuild of engine harness were over $100

Light bulbs and oil changes have totaled less then $200

New carpeting was free.

I expect to replace the suspension at a cost of around $1000, as I do all the labor myself, I purchase the best parts I can afford. I did not replace the water pump however.

I hope others will chime in!!!
