Trying to get my engine running long enough to put some adjustments on it. I roughly static set the timing and initially adjusted out the mixture nuts 12 flats. It will fire with lots of choke but puts out a horrendous amount and quality of exhaust fumes and requires constant blipping of the throttle and choke to stay lit for just a few seconds. In the process of trying different settings, I found that the adjusting nut and spring on the rear carb are damp but not to the point of dripping and there seems to be a film of gas on the top of the rear float valve. So what do you think, does it sound like I have a bad float valve? For what it's worth, I did overhaul the carbs including new valves and seats.
