I'm not sure if you can hook it up w/o the button.

You mean the horn contact button-job that fits into the steering tube, right?

I'm not sure there is an aftermarket/replacement option aside from the OEM part.

If nobody else suggests it, I'd suggest "contacting" (terrible pun, sorry) either Jim Morris (JimMorris) or Chris Horn (AgentStrangelove). Both have a nice selection of used parts are are BB regulars. I've bought from both with great success.
