Hi all, I'm working on my friends 91 740, 119k. Anyway recently his speedometer stopped working, i looked at the wires in the back and they looked fine. I tried to check the wires going to the speedo with an ohmeter(sp) but couldn't quite make enough contact, anyway when i plugged the speedo back in it worked for like a minute, then hasn't worked since.. I've tried wiggling it around and checking the connections but they look fine.. so thats that cluster. Then i got a new unit from the junkyard and everything seems to work on it except the speedo.. when i put the key into the 2nd position the speedo shoots up to 40, then when i start the car it goes back down to 25... then as i accelerate past 25 it seems to start to register, i didn't have anyone driving behind me but i think i heard it switch into od around 40- so i'm thinking its working.. Is there anyway to reset it or something ?? any ideas??
