Modified blower motor mount 700 1989

Hi everyone,

My blower died for good this time. Totally seized up. The old one was a 5 screw type with the rubber vent hose a the side of the motor.

I could not find a new/used 5 screw blower like the old one around here and had to settle with a 3 screw type blower. The new blower came with a plastic mounting plate and a rubber gasket, similar to the one shown by IPD, however NO instructions.

http://www.ipdusa.com/version.asp?strPageHistory=category&numSearchStartRecord=0&strParents=70,252&P_ID=1553&CAT_ID=252&V_ID=3301

This is what the FAQ have to say ...

"replacing this motor was a piece of cake. Follow the above procedure and read the directions for the modified mounting plate that came with the motor. You may need to cut off a short plastic drain pipe using a hack saw blade"

Why so? I thought the mounting plate had a hole for the pipe?

"apply some sealant to the adaptor ring, screw it in place"

Does the adaptor ring here refers to the plastic mounting plate and the rubber gasket? And what is supposed to be on top (ie in contact with the blower housing), is the rubber gasket or the plate?

"and drill a vent hole"

Where??

"Then mount the new motor, solder the wires, and close everything up"

Looking at the pic, how do I mount the motor? There are no screw holes on the motor baseplate. Do you screw the plate first then the blower? It does not seem right this way. This would mean the motor is below the plate and supported by what??

Sorry for the long post. Appreciate any help I can get. It's pretty hot here without the AC

Thanks
