If the progressives on your car are red they are probably the ones from Scandix. The company that makes them, Lesjofors, got the rates all wrong. ( I know as they sent me a sample set to try and I put them on spring rate checker. ) They don't work as they should and are too low in the front.

If you want to go really low and preserve suspension travel, the body can actually be lowered on the crossmember. This actually raises the engine and suspension in relation to the body, so a limiting factor as to how far you can go using this method is preserving adequate clearance between the transmission and the trans tunnel.

For any lowering that is done by shorter springs the bump stops should be modified. I've found that on the front, taking off about half of the amount the car is lowered works well. It can be done in a couple of minutes with a reciprocating saw without taking them off the car. Try to preserve the bump stop's original shape, instead of just cutting the tops off, so they will continue to work progressively ( the reason for the cone shape ).
