I had an earlier version of one of those from the Princess that I got on sale for about the same price a couple of years ago. Not as nice as yours though. Weirdly I had to set it on 8 cylinders to get a proper reading. It died recently and I bought a 4" unit, again from PA on sale for $19.99. I was told by a mechanic at Tirecraft that one of the failure modes of the earlier tach shorted the coil lead, presumably to ground. It didn't kill the coil but the car wouldn't run.
