I changed out my temp sender just when spring hit, when everything was swapped and and workng I took a good look at the old one. I ended up breaking off the guage from the tube so I could keep it for future use, when it broke I could smell the ether. It even dripped out of the tube, leaving me to believe it was sealed all the time. It's never worked and I've driven this 67 all last fall & winter, so I guess it can happen.
