The first thing I do when I get a new (used) car is to pull and reseat the fuses.
Same goes for the relays in a 740.
DO NOT EVER USE A WIRE BRUSH TO CLEAN THE FUSE BLOCK!!!
The wires it sheds could cause a LOT of trouble.
