Ryan's right. My AW70L 'chitters' due to a worn clutch pack when over 2500 RPM. I adjusted the cable really slack, and the shift points are quite low and pretty smooth. I find that the engine is torque-y enough to pull the car along in the 1900-2200 RPM range.
The only drawback I've found is in the very hilly regions, it shifts too soon - I can never press the throttle far enough to get it to dramatically kick down (flooring it doesn't pull the cable far enough). My answer is to manually control shifts with the lever.
Look in the FAQ, it's pretty clear about the theory behind it, and the process you take to adjust it.
