67 120 model how reliable 120-130 1967

Hello AKSHADOW:

Sorry that you missed it because indeed, it makes a pretty great daily driver. I got into this whole mess by buying a '67 122S Wagon almost exactly four years ago. I have two kids and a wife and the only reason the car has let me down in that time is because I have let it down by being ignorant. I have learned a lot in four years with plenty more to come.

The one issue I probably could not have anticipated is the failure of the timing gear. Regardless of mileage (mine had low mileage) these fiber gears tend to deteriorate over time so it would be good to check when it was last changed, if ever. Barring accurate information from the previous owner change it out just to be safe and hang onto the old one in the event of a roadside failure. Keep a spare fuel pump on hand too (I need to procure one myself.)

I realize you missed out on this last one but I would spend five or eight times what that person was asking and get one in better shape. I can confirm the 30MPG figures quoted elsewhere, by the way.

Cheers,

Jeff Pucillo
