temp sensor reporting higher temp after replacement 200 1979

duh! I wasn't paying attention to the year. So I guess the real question is this: is the car, in fact, running hot or is the car performing normally and the gauge running high?

If you can determine that the car is running normally, that either is your new "normal," or you pull out the new unit and replace it. Worse would be to have to replace the dash gauge. Can you put your old sending unit back in and check it that way?

My gauge runs high (not as high as yours) and I just had to adjust to it after I determined that the vehicle was operating at a normal temperature.
