Should I replace this distributor cap?? 700 1989

In the links below are a couple of pics of the distributor cap from my folks 1989 740GL. In the first you can see the date stamp (1987!!!). This must be the original cap! Even though it's 21 years old the engine runs fine. The contacts look a bit too thin or worn to me. Just wondering if I should replace it sooner rather than later?
