Hi Mario,
George's 16 ga solution will work fine. I've fabricated a rear floor pan for my car out of 20 ga and knocked in the ridges - a few minutes with a sheet metal break and you're done. I suspect the replacements are worth the money as you don't have to fiddle around with cutting templates etc.
I've done 2 - 122 shells recently and can tell you that the Swedish replacement panels are first rate and the correct gauge. The only panel that was crappy (and I replaced a few!) was the rear quarter panel below the bumper - it was formed terribly and was thinner gauge than original. So If I was doing front floors, I'd go with the replacements - they're usually easier to work with and faster.
