ABS light on at startup S90-V90 1998

Symptom change.
Now when i start the car 4 out of 10 times the light will stay out. If i press the pedal hard i hear a noise. a fast beating noise gr gr gr gr gr . it will cycle 3 times then the light will go on. Sounds like it comes from the abs controller front right engine compartment. I have not been able to re-enact by myself so I am waiting for an assistant to help. Meanwhile any ideas would be appreciated rather than taking it somewhere for code reading.
