Hopefully you have a usable tab left to use. Tighten up with a suitable socket and bar. Torque it about the same as a spark plug, 25ft/lbs, and bend up the tab flush against a flat on the nut. I don't really see why there should be any punch marks on the nut unless a punch was used to loosen off the nut. Unless you have a socket amd maybe a short extension the nut is a bit difficult to get to. If the tab washer is no good, try and get another, or you will have the same problem later.
