no spark condition 1800 1971

Hello,

It is odd that the oil pressure hose for the gauge actually touching the exhaust manifold. I wonder if someone replaced the 1800e/es oil hose with the (P)1800(S) oil pressure hose or fabricated a replacement that was too long. The 1800e/es oil pressure hose is shorter than the (P)1800(S) oil pressure hose.

Unfortunately, both the new replacement oil hoses for the (P)1800(S) and 1800e/es that are available do not have the correct ends. I have been told that the hoses do work, but I have checked the threads and I believe that even if you do manage to get the hose to seal, that you have to damaged the threads.

I currently rebuild my customers hoses by reusing their old oil pressure hose fittings. I use braided steel hose and recrimp with brass crimps. But the crimp collars look different and my crimping tool does not come close to replicating the original crimp, but I am going for long term funtionality.

I also install a piece of "fire sleeve" over the hose which protects the rubber hose inside the braided steel from getting as hot and extending the life of the hose.
