Good news on the '84 200 1984

Well folks,

Now I know why my '84 242 (the one I just got a few days ago) wasn't passing VA emissions. It wasn't the catalytic converter- that part turned out to be in good shape, according to my mechanic. The problems were in the throttle body and flame trap. Those were clogged with debris and other crap. The shop cleaned both parts- plus I had them change the oil and the thermostat as preventive maintenance. Only Volvo parts were used, at my insistence.

$780 later, the car runs better than it did when I got it last Sunday. The idle is smoother and the throttle response is better.
