"Well these usually fail at about 150K ...
"I have read at a lot of places that the Bendix suck and fail at 150K..."
I don't know where you've been getting your info, but it's BS. I don't recall a single Bendix ECU problem reported here in the 5+ years I've been looking, ever since I got my first Regina car and had heard all the BS Bendix rumors.
Just because you fixed a 240 with a Bosch ECU that has a reputation for a known failure is no reason to start with the Bendix ECU on a 740 problem.
As Mike said, the Radio Suppression relay (common to both Bosch and Bendix 700 FI systems) is a known source of injector control problems. And a Crank Position Sensor at 150K is also a likely bet to kill both ignition and fuel.
You need to get that car to someone that knows the RWD Volvos.
