Still having problem 200 1989

The situation is a little better. She still has periods of severe hesitation, like barely accellerating and then running strong up to speed. The issue is only when load is on the engine. Also runs good the first thing in the morning. After sitting a the office for 10 minutes or most of the day it will still hesitate at first. Normal cruise speed is unaffected. It almost acts as if the timing is being retarded severely, even with a few pops coming from under the hood, but not in the exhaust/tailpipe. Could the knock sensor be bad? i've never heard of one going bad before.
Any more ideas?
I have a parts car with good everything so I can swap out whatever I need to, but i want to do as little of that as possible.
Thanks,
Palmer
