E-clip... not sure? 120-130

Well... I'm not sure what an e-clip is actually. At the end of the plunger/piston thing is a little indent area whith what looks to be a ring that
would have been put in by compressing it, then releasing it inside the hole....
might this be what you're talking about? How would replacing the pistons (if possible) help fix it?

I guess if I could take it off and get inside there, I could perhaps see what might be sticking it and preventing full range of motion?....
