flickering idiot lights problem resolved! 200 1993

Well, I thought I'd close the loop for anyone interested. I jumpered both the dash light wire and the ground wire and no change to the flickering lights. So I thought I'd swap regulators temporarily between the 93 and the 92 wagon. Took off the regulator from the car in question and found that one of the brushes had a very odd wear pattern. The brush closest to the outside of the regulator had sort of a 'step' on it where it comes in contact with the alternator commutator. It wasn't making contact with the copper surface anymore, just the shaft. Sanded the brush down to a nice concave, reinstalled and voila! she's charging again. Very odd! I would have expected such an issue from the Lucas alternator on my MGB, not from Bosch. Anyway, I can take my time and order new brushes knowing what the issue is. Thanks for the advice on this one guys! Greg

PS- To respond to the latest post on this string;the dash light is the small red wire from the alternator and I jumpered it to the back of the red 'battery light'
