Ignition coil replacement S90-V90 1997

If you can change spark plugs, you can change a coil. In fact, it's even easier. Use a torx bit to remove that big "Volvo 24 Valve" plastic thing from on top of your engine. You will see each coil for each spark plug running along the top of the engine from front to back.

Disconnect the one that's giving you problems, and then use a socket wrench to remove the one or two bolts that's holding the coil down. Gently pull the coil up. It will disconnect itself from the spark plug. Drop the new coil in place, tighten it down (not too tight, because you're rip the threads on the aluminum cyl head), plug it back in, Put the big plastic shield back in place.

BTW, the dealer charges like $90 for the coil itself.. You can buy them aftermarket from places like Napa and DAdvanced Auto parts for more like $40ish.
