i have never heard of that before...
I spoke to people on here as well as a volvo dealer..
My drivers side cable snapped. I purchased a new one (Scan Tech) and could not get it to reach... Then i went to the dealer ordered one there, and it was the same as the scan tech part..
I then spoke to a mechanic at the dealer who said that you need to replace all three cables, I guess the design changed (it didnt make too much sense)... That is where I left it.
In order to replace it properly the fuel tank needs to be lowered. I am pretty sure the drive shaft goes through the middle of the tank, so it might be enough just to drop the tank onto the drive shaft in order to sneak the new front cable thought..
I still need to replace it one day,, but that is where I left it.. At the time I couldn't afford to work on the car for what seems to be a few days ( doing it at home) so I will be doing it perhaps this summer..
If you are doing this yourself. please update this post with part numbers you buy etc... I have only read of one guy on here replacing it and he had it done at a shop.
From the dealer it was close to $400 in cables, and they thought it would take about 6-7 hours to do, but wanted me to pay flat rate for as long as it takes them.. So close to a $1000CAD for the job, seemed way too much for a car for 300,000km so i will be doing it myself if at all.
