whooo-hoo! Someone's a little testy today. I was cracking a joke. In my humble opinion, fixing the little headlight windshield wipers is like going to the doctor and saying "instead of taking my apendix out, can you fix it?" Like I said, cracking a joke.
Now, if dickering with the little things like wipers is your idea of fun, that's great. Good for you. We all need hobbies in life. 15 years from now, if you keep up with it, you may be driving a classic show car. Go for it, and live the dream.
And yes, I already own two cars that I'm confident will outperform this Volvo in longevity: a 1996 Nissan pickup that has only had one non-maintenance part (the MAF sensor) replaced over its 165k mile lifespan, and a Camry with 70k miles that's still getting broken in.
I wrench on the Volvo because my wife loves the car, and I love that it's paid off. Hopefully you're right, and this v90 will last for 6 more years, but unless Jesus himself lays hand on the headlight wipers, I don't see mine coming back to life any time soon. I've got clunking suspension problems that are more pressing. Maybe if you spent less time trying to figure out the mystery of the hidden torx screw you'd be able to laugh a little.
I hope your projects go well for you.
