How are we getting our air?- Or-convince me to buy an air compressor

As the title states-- I do not own an air compressor, and of course no air tools. I own one old brick and routinely maintain my family members' non-Volvo cars. And I've gotten along pretty fine over the years without air tools. I do have an electric impact wrench that is my heavy artillery.

My big issue is finding something to put air in my tires with. I've used bicycle pumps and they do not hold up well (the neighbors also point and stare when they see me out there pumping away in the cold). Air for tires is not free at gas stations by me and and will not, shall not EVER plunk down 50 cents for it from a machine.

Is there a small electrical inflater out there that easily inflates tires with maybe an attachment for blowing out leaves/debris etc...? OR should I bite the bullet and buy an air compressor?

I've been against getting a small compressor because it takes up a fair amount of space, requires maintenance, and will probably cost about $100. Then I'd feel the need to build my tool collection and buy impact guns, air ratchets, etc.

Those in the know, please give me some advice. And those who say just get over yourself and buy the damned compressor, what should I look for when buying? I don't need anything super heavy-duty, I'm not going to be painting a car with it, and I don't want to break the bank.

Thanks,
Chris
