The newer one doesn't automatically mean less miles on it. The box which has the best feeling gearstick & syncros likely has the best OD attached to it. Pull the strainers out & have a look, stick the box in each gear & turn it over by hand. They are real easy to swap over, so it doesn't really matter which you try out first. Just make sure you use a straight cut oil, not multigrade, I'd use a straight 30 engine oil.
