If the steering is that heavy either there is something wrong with the car, or something wrong with you.
Car related problems could include under-inflated front tires, ancient tires with
collapsing sidewalls or some other malady, dried out and/or rusty ball joints, tie-rod ends, idler arm and steering box.
When I first started driving my 122 at age 16 I wondered why my arms were a little sore all the time; then I got stronger and my arms didn't hurt anymore...
Seriously, my 5ft 110 lb. mother drove my car for about ten years before I did, and never had any problems with the steering; of course she grew up on a farm...
