ignition keys 1800 1973

Hello,

Unfortunately, the ignition key blank is different than all the other locks on the car.

Check the underside of the car THOUGHLY for a "Hide A Key" type container.

Check the underside of the bumpers, inside the wheel wheels, inside the underside of the front and rear panels and along the frame rails.

I have even seen them attached to the front crossmember.

If you were local, I could try my can of keys for a good used ignition key.

The tumbler housing on the 1800E/ES ignition locks are very fragile and it is not uncommon to see a crack in the upper and lower sides of the pot metal tumbler housing.

The tumbler assembly was not available seperately EVER from Volvo, so you had to buy the whole ignition lock assembly which is no longer available.

I can replace the tumbler assembly with an aftermarket tumbler.

The replacement tumbler and keys are completely different than the original, but it is a lot stronger assembly.

Used units are out there, but I still have not seen one that did not have a cracked tumbler housing.
